To mark the recent sale in the US of one of only three known specimens of a Sydney Mint Proof £5, the Melbourne Museum have put their example on display. The coin sold by Heritage Auctions for US$660,000 ($AU867,000) is the second highest price ever paid for an Australian coin, after the 1930 Proof Australian Penny which sold for $1.15 million in 2019.
